Stories That Stay With You

Our Work

Each project is a visual dialogue – exploring sport, adventure, and human rights through a poetic lens. We offer flexible formats: full productions, co-creations, or specific roles like camera or editing. Whatever the setup, we bring care, clarity, and authorship to every collaboration. Filmmaking as Co-Creation

maleza is Lucía & Javier. We believe in authorship as responsibility. Our path leads us to places where stories grow wild and we tend to them with care. Behind each frame stands a choice.

Director & Cinematographer

Javier Sobremazas

Director, Cinematographer & Editor

Javier is a visual storyteller shaped movement, music and light. He began his career filming music videos with friends in England, before returning to Spain to work as a director of photography and editor at a local film studio. There, he honed his technical and narrative skills across both commercial and artistic projects.

In 2014, he directed his first documentary, Midnight Sun — a music-fueled road trip through Finland, Norway, and Sweden. He later moved to Germany, where he directed award-winning short documentaries such as 12 Days in Idomeni, The New City (Das Bunte Dresden), and Sorojchi — films rooted in themes of social justice, displacement, and cultural resilience. His work has been screened at festivals around the world.

Since the pandemic, Javier has focused increasingly on editing long-form sports and outdoor documentaries, including Jonas Deichmann – Das Limit bin nur ich and Trail der Träume, both currently streaming on Netflix and screened in cinemas across Germany.

In 2025, he co-founded Maleza Docs with Lucía — a creative collective dedicated to ethical documentary production and digital storytelling.
